statement

Juan Pablo Caicedo Torres (Bogotá, Colombia, 1991) is a visual and performance artist, photographer, poet, and cultural producer whose practice approaches multiple cultural and political notions from a critical, interdisciplinary, and community focused approach. Juan Pablo’s practice engages in multiple media and often involves creating educational experiences and building cultural platforms where art catalyzes public dialogues toward environmental and social justice.

Juan Pablo’s multidisciplinary practice weaves together educational artistic experiences and the creation of curatorial platforms where art becomes a catalyst for public dialogues on environmental and social justice. As an artist, educator, and researcher addressing a wide range of sociopolitical issues, his work spans visual and performance art, installations, socially engaged art, public space interventions, and cultural organizing. Through a collaborative and critical approach, Juan Pablo aims to foster collective action and dialogue, analyzing power dynamics to highlight historical, political, and environmental conflicts in the public sphere. His work inspires collective imagination and action towards support, care, and advocacy, serving as a catalyst for collaboration and solidarity. By fostering dialogue and building collective knowledge through the arts, Juan Pablo’s practice acts as a conduit for meaningful social change.

Juan Pablo holds a Master of Arts in Arts Politics from New York University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National University of Colombia. His artwork has been exhibited in museums and art spaces across Colombia, Spain, Switzerland, Australia, and the United States.

Juan Pablo’s work has been showcased in museums, galleries, and independent spaces worldwide such as MoMA NYC, Canal Projects, the MAMBO, Arts Santa Monica in Barcelona, the Santa Fe Gallery in Bogota, 107 projects in Sidney, Radio Lora in Zurich, Analco Project in Helsinki, the Performance Festival of Manizales, and Live/Deferred Actions in Bogota.
